...and on and on

the whole week of rain
has inspired my pen
given me fuel
instilled songwriting Zen
my mind has meandered
through past conversations
down streets that I lived on
and old subway stations

my friend lost his father
in the year that I moved
there were three generations
under one tiny roof
and to me he's still living
with his son and grandson
the reality's jarring
being told that he's gone

the bloodwork is in
my walls are too thin
inspecting my navel
crawling 'round in my skin
pressure is up but
heart gauge reads empty
if you cut me
I'll bleed ignorance

nothing new under the sun

and aw shit.

I just noticed that the last 2 songs have an almost identical rhythm for the verses. sucks.
the melodies and progressions and strumming /plucking patterns are different, and SiO is in 6/8 while AB is in 4/4, but still...

little disheartened.

almost born

since when do I write songs with lyrics, I ask you? crazy. well... so this is the third in two weeks. wild.

Almost Born

verse 1
weathervane
whirls on awning
pregnant clouds
thunder warning
full moon wanes
father waxes
womb is tight
then relaxes

chorus
almost born
almost born
almost born
almost born

verse 2
mother's will
bends to urging
strong contractions
power surging
Thursday is
your birthday daughter
bid farewell
your world of water

bridge
In the pivotal moment
between old and new
all of our hopes and
our joys rest on you
we pray for your safety
and anxiously pace
in anticipation
of seeing your face

verse 3
almost born
formed of frame
knit together
days ordained
fear and wonder
flesh and spirit
Master-woven
living fabric

Verse 3 has some ideas based on Psalm 139.
